“Transformers The Last Knight”, Transformers is one of those movie sagas that many say they hate but that most ends up watching. There is something that catches on all the nonsense of Michael Bay and his many hours of shots, chaos and explosions. Transformers: The Last Knight will be no exception.
The last movie of the fifth installment of the franchise makes it clear that it does not matter that his plot is a damn madness without feet or head, just as it could be a funny movie. And the Last Knight has it all: knights of the round table, giant robots, Nazis, spaceships, destruction, explosions and simultaneous decapitations of robots. All this, accompanied by the voice of Sir Anthony Hopkins with an expression on the face that translates into "I do not know how I ended up here.
But it does not matter, because there we will be watching The Last Knight in a couple of months. We will leave the cinema criticizing it and complaining about Bay's madness although in the background we know that we have had a good laugh.
For some it is not surprising that Michael Bay has managed to take the saga of 'Transformers' so far. His story with the franchise has not been precisely friendly, at least as far as reception is concerned. The last two films have made it clear that he is targeting a particular kind of action-packed, beautiful women and special effects. Something like the 'Fast and Furious' with giant robots included. The nostalgia and depth of the series is something that has been reserved for the lively world.
However, Bay has something clear and is that as the film is not dedicated to the fans of the television series, you can focus on two of the most remembered characters: Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. In past movies we saw that the previous leader of the autobots returned as an enemy of humanity. The latest movie for 'Transformers: The Last Knight' reinforces us a bit more of this idea.
#3 A great release date: April 28, 2017
The quick answer is: nothing new. If something confirms the movie is that Michael Bay continues betting on the style that has helped him survive at the box office. Beautiful women and explosions overload the two minutes of the video, in what looks like yet another 'Transformers' tape. Neither should we expect a story that solves the holes that have left previous deliveries. At this point it is even difficult to know how a new attack on the land will be justified and if the idea (which has been worked since the second film) is not worn even for the strongest fans of the franchise. Much has been speculated about Bay's departure from the franchise. Although he had not confirmed it, it would not be surprising that after five films decided to focus on other types of projects. The question is also important because it defines when we could see a different Transformers movie on the big screen.
In an interview with MTV, Bay responded that at the moment does not think to abandon "Transformers". More importantly, he indicated that to date there are 14 different booklets for sequels and spinoffs of the franchise. The director stated that he wanted to participate in at least one of these projects.
This means that we are missing a lot before we can see a different 'Bay' style 'Transformers' movie that we have become accustomed to. Even if Bay leaves his role as director, he is likely to remain involved in the franchise with another role, as has happened with 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'.
Are you waiting for the arrival of 'Transformers: The Last Knight' or are you one of those who long ago abandoned the franchise on the big screen? In this advance it is possible to appreciate a little more of the problematic of the film, the possible reason of the conflict and of course, a lot of explosions. Do not miss it then.
The film is starring Laura Haddock, Stanley Tucci, Jerrod Carmichael, John Goodman, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Gil Birmingham and Jean Dujardin, and will hit cinemas in June.
